Michael Anderson MD
Gemma Woticky PhD(c)
Sophie Soklaridis PhD

This talk will focus on the role and place of world-views and values in the research process through two examples: 1) An Indigenous lens to academic research 2) The practice of equitable partnerships among people with lived/living experience of mental health and addictions and people with other expertise.

The speakers will share how both approaches, albeit from different cultural, historical, theoretical and philosophical underpinnings, share the common principles of humility and accountability to their relationships above all else. These approaches allow us to delve deeper into the role that relationships play in all aspects of our lives. These case examples will highlight how health professions education scholars might consider and/or incorporate a similar axiological integrity into their own research process.
