PhD Fellowship Opportunity
The rapid development of basic and applied health sciences and the promise of personalized medicine have fueled a public expectation that large investments in health research and the education of health professionals and clinical investigators will yield substantial improvements for human health globally. Clinical investigators, defined as health professionals who play a major and sustained role in health research, are key enablers in the enterprise of discovery, innovation and translation within health care.
As part of an ongoing collaboration between The University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and University Medical Centre (UMC) Utrecht, we are currently accepting applications from students interested in completing a PhD with a focus on health professions education, specifically professional identity formation in clinical investigators. In addition to working with the collaborative research group, the Fellow will have space at the Wilson Centre where they will have an opportunity to work and learn in a community of researchers from many academic disciplines and many health professional backgrounds. Under the joint supervision of Drs. Norman Rosenblum and Nicole Woods, the successful applicant will pursue a PhD within the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies and a Fellowship at the Wilson Centre, University Health Network, University of Toronto. Applicants with disciplinary backgrounds outside of medicine (e.g. cognitive psychology, education psychology, sociology, higher education, behavioural sciences etc.) are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must apply for and be accepted to the MSc, MEd (anticipated transfer to PhD after successful transfer examination) or PhD program at either The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) or Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) with a start date no later than January 1, 2017.

3. Canadian citizenship or residency Funding
The successful applicant will receive the required graduate student salary support in accordance with the policy in their chosen program of study (IMS or OISE).
